Handmade Ceramic 16oz Large Mug, Ammonite Sprig, Cream Speckled Stoneware

A generously sized mug for your morning coffee or tea. This 16oz handmade stoneware mug has beautiful toasty clay with dark flecks that interact with the cream glaze, resulting in stunning brown streaks across the form. Each mug is finished with a delicate ammonite fossil sprig near the base — a small handmade detail inspired by the natural world.

This is a proper big mug — perfect if you like a generous cup of tea or coffee that doesn't need topping up halfway through. How it's made
Every piece is thrown by hand by me, in my home studio in Bedfordshire. Each pot is shaped, left to dry to leather-hard, trimmed, and has its handle pulled and attached by hand. Once fully dry, it's fired to over 1000°C and cooled for about 24 hours, then glazed — sometimes with up to 8 brushed-on coats to build those painterly effects — before a final firing to 1180°C and another 24-hour cool-down. Start to finish, the whole process takes 3 to 6 weeks, a little longer in colder, damper months.

A note on handmade variation
Because each piece is made by hand, you may notice small differences in glaze and size from mug to mug — that's not a flaw, it's the joy of owning something one-of-a-kind.

Caring for your mug
This mug is dishwasher and microwave safe for everyday ease, but hand washing will keep the glaze looking its best over the long run — totally your call!
